Brit F3: Vergne quickest



Carlin’s Jean-Eric Vergne was today once again the quickest of the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 testers, the Frenchman one of a handful of drivers to sneak beneath the unofficial lap record at Oulton Park.

The Cheshire circuit – venue for the championship’s opening rounds at Easter (3-5 April) – provided a chilly but ever-quickening venue for the 21 drivers taking part today, with Vergne setting the best time of the day which, at 1m 27.444s, was 1.4s better than Max Chilton’s 2008 pole position time. Le Mans Series: Quaife confident



British racing driver Phil Quaife emerged from the Official Le Mans Series test days at Paul Ricard HTTT full of confidence and looking forward to the opening round of the 2010 season at the French track next month.

The two-day test session, attended by most of the 50 teams expected to be on the LMS grid this season, gave the Tonbridge-based racer the chance to re-acquaint himself with a GT2-spec CRS Racing Ferrari 430 test car, similar to the one he drove in last year’s Spa 24 Hours and an updated version of which he will race in the highly-competitive GT2 class of the LMS this season. GP3: Rossi quickest



Friday marked the conclusion of the first ever GP3 Series test in Le Castellet, and the mood in the paddock as the teams began packing away was a positive one after two days of hard work.

The on track action was non-stop during the final three hours, with top honours eventually claimed by ART’s Alexander Rossi. FFord: O’Neill at CDR



Cliff Dempsey Racing has confirmed a second driver for their 2010 Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship campaign. Nineteen year old Dublin student Cormac O’Neill, who made his debut with the team in 2009 in FF1600, taking third overall in the Irish FF championship and 5th in the UK National FF1600 series, will step up to the top British series using the same Ray chassis that he drove in FF1600 last season upgraded to Duratec spec. arrow Read On…

HILTON HOTELS TO PUSH MCLAREN F1 TIES




Hilton Hotels is planning to use its affiliation with the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 team and its British drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button in its biggest marketing push in the UK for years.

Advertising and promotional activity will feature either Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button as the hotel chain looks to boost its UK market.

Hilton’s partnership with McLaren Mercedes was its first foray into sport after they agreed a deal in 2005.
